Petrus was born in 1782 in Weert.  Petrus' father was Christianus Stijnen and his mother was Barbara Thijssens.  His paternal grandparents were Gerardus Stijnen and Maria van Gelis.  He had four brothers and four sisters, named Gerardus, Petrus, Henricus, Joannes, Maria, Joanna, Maria and Joanna.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 68 in 1850.
