Joanna was born in 1776 in Weert.  Joanna's father was Christianus Stijnen and her mother was Barbara Thijssens.  Her paternal grandparents were Gerardus Stijnen and Maria van Gelis.  She had five brothers and three sisters, named Gerardus, Petrus, Petrus, Henricus, Joannes, Maria, Maria and Joanna.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 35 in 1811.
