Petrus was born on September 27th, 1729 in Beesel.  Petrus' father was Joannes Simes and his mother was Mathiola  (Tisken) van O(e)broeck.  His paternal grandparents were Anton Simons and Agnes Doemges; his maternal grandparents were Jacob van Obroeck and Mechtildis Nijssen.  He had four brothers and two sisters, named Jacobus, Jacobus, Joannes, Martinus, Theodora and Catharina.  He was the sixth oldest of the seven children.
