Bartholomeus was born on April 12th, 1745 in Swalmen.  Bartholomeus' father was Joannes Clumpkens and his mother was Mechtildis Custers.  His paternal grandparents were Theodorus Klumpkens and Sophia Dousens; his maternal grandparents were Ludovicus Custers and Catharina Pijpers.  He had two brothers named Theodor and Jacobus.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 50 on June 26th, 1795.
