Silvester was born in 1665 in Weert.  Silvester's father was Matteus Stijnen and his mother was Maria Thijssen.  His paternal grandparents were Marcellus Silvester Stijnen and Joanna.  He had three brothers and two sisters, named Petrus, Joannes, Joannes, Joanna and Catarina.  He was the oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 55 on May 17th, 1720.
