Petronella was born in 1744 in Weert.  Petronella's father was Gerardus Stijnen and her mother was Maria van Gelis.  Her paternal grandparents were Joannes Stijnen and Josina Hendrikx.  She had four brothers and four sisters, named Joannes, Christianus, Petrus, Henricus, Helena, Maria, Anna and Ida.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 66 in 1810.
