Godefridus was born in 1811 in Asten.  Godefridus' father was Petrus Stienen and his mother was Gertrudis Mooren.  His paternal grandparents were Christianus Stijnen and Barbara Thijssens; his maternal grandparents were Joannes Mooren and Wilhelmina Arits.  He had a brother and a sister, named Jacob and Maria.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He had two half-sisters named Petronella and Christina.  He died at the age of 58 in 1869.
