Geerken was born on March 19th, 1681 in Asenray.  Geerken's father was Theunis Thomassen and his mother was Geertrui Gerets.  His maternal grandparents were Geerken Sijben and Beel Tissen.  He had a sister named Catharina.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 46 in 1727.
