Mathias was born in Bracht (D).  Mathias' father was Johann Terporten and his mother was Cornelia Petronella Compans.  His paternal grandparents were Mathias Terporten and Maria Murres; his maternal grandparents were Reiner Compans and Anna Schmitz.  He had three brothers and a sister, named Leonard, Cornelius, Johann and Anna.  He died on September 29th, 1721.
