Maria was born on February 22nd, 1680 in Swalmen.  Maria's father was Areth Meuter and her mother was Maria Cruijsbergh.  Her paternal grandparents were Albertus Meuter and Gertrudis Wittecreemers; her maternal grandparents were Godefridus Cruijsbergh and Elisabeth Segers.  She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Joannes, Lambertus, Albertus, Joannes, Gertrudis, Elisabeth, Gertrudis, Gertrudis, Mechtildis, Agnes and Gertrudis.  She was the seventh oldest of the twelve children.  She had a half-brother named Franciscus.
